I find life to be filled with magic, and magical realism is simply writing which celebrates this aspect of our world. All of us live on the same planet, but each member of the human race seems to live in an entirely different world, shaped by whichever filters through which he or she views life.

In my own writing, the people of Mother Mountain come to accept the unexplainable events that seem to accompany faith in their Goddess. In Winging It, Lupe departs from her very ordinary life to co-exist with beings from places she will never see for herself. And Bitchy Butch complains her way through a world she sees only the worst side of, completely unaware that there are hidden Goddesses along the way who are helping her out! In recent issues of my comic book, Naughty Bits, I wrote and illustrated a biography of the Spanish Magical-Realist painter, Remedios Varo, and reprinted the Bruce Taylor story Cars.
