As far as I'm concerned, none of my writing is horror. That was a label a publisher slapped on it, and the proof is that most foks in the horror community don't like what I do and don't get it. Is it Magic Realism -- yes, much of it, especially Odd Thomas, The Face, One Door Away From Heaven, and others. Do I want to talk about my own work in an analytic fashion with -- God willing -- so many more books to come? No. Let the work speak for itself. When I'm nearer the end, and if God gives me clarity at that point, I'll write about my own work analytically. But I mostly believe that it's the story that counts, not the writer, and I avoid, as much as possible, anything that might make of me even a mini-celebrity.
