More Magic Realism Folks

My favorite tales have always been ones that give me a magical or heightened perception of the world - everything from Russian fairytales and Greek mythology to the Sunday comics. Somewhere along the way, I started using my own life experiences (including many years of theater and museum work) to create very personal magic realist tales. I live in NYC, just one block from Central Park - a very magical place - and write short books, short stories, and make short films. I love reading and watching magic realism. And although it's a proper collective genre of literature and film, I find the writers and artists to be uniquely beautiful, singular voices that give us breathtaking looks at the everyday, and risk enough to share with us the deepest chasm of their waking dreams.

My novelette, The Sun, tells the tale of a woman who sets out one morning to deliver bread to an injured neighbor's mother, but is left stranded in the exotic Far Quarter, with no other guide than the Wolf - a mysterious man she meets on the ferry, who looks identical to two other men she encounters along the way. This is a story about letting go of the pain of past love and opening oneself to trust the new.
